High blood sugar levels in people with diabetes can cause damage to the blood vessels and retina within the eye. This is called diabetic retinopathy. Damage and weakening of the blood vessels can result in swelling and leakage of fluid in the retina. severe form of disease can cause severe vitreous hemorrhage and retinal detachment.
posterior pole surgeries or macular surgeries are indicated in various macular diseases like VMT, macular hole and epiretinal membrane over macula.
various kind of laser are useful for management of different anterior segment as well as posterior segment disease. these diseases include membrane behind lens(posterior capsular opacification), glaucoma, pan retinal photocoagulation, focal laseretc.
